David Silva opened the scoring with a powerful header after a rebound off a possible Newcastle arm found its way to Silva who finished easily.
Sergio Aguero doubled the advantage with a smartly taken shot which kept low and rolled into the bottom left corner.
The second half was much the same with Yaya Toure scoring fairly early to put his side up by three with a cleanly taken free-kick finding the left corner.
France international Samir Nasri finished things off with the fourth and last goal to give Man City a good win int their first competitive match of the season.
