Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring with a fantastic header from a corner beating the Atletico keeper to find the corner.

It was soon after that Atletico were able to equalise when Radamel Falcao played a fantastic ball to put Diego Costa in and he finished calmly with a strike to the bottom right corner.

The two teams could not find a winner in normal time so extra time was a necessity. Atletico Madrid find a winner when Miranda headed in a goal with an outstretched Diego Lopez being able to do nothing about it.

Real Madrid had one really good chance to force penalties but Ozil was denied by Courtois. The match ended in controversy with Ronaldo seeing red.
