Arsenal had a debutante in the form of Mesut Ozil today with the former Real Madrid and Werder Bremen man starting the match.
Frenchman Olivier Giroud continued his stunning early season form with the opener and at the start of the second half Sunderland equalised from the spot.
But Arsenal stood strong to hit-back with Aaron Ramsey hitting a double in the second half to give them some confidence going into their mid-week clash against Marseille in the Champions League.
