It was Walter Mazzarri's men who opened the scoring with Ricardo Alvarez slotting home a goal after Fredy Guarin's shot rebounded from Buffon straight to Alvarez.
Juventus were able to equalize just before the half was over with Arturo Vidal converting from the spot. The second half was scoreless and this meant that it would head straight to a shoot-out rather than extra time.
And after a long string of penalties by both sides, it was goalkeeper and second half substitute Juan Carrizo who found the winner to secure a 7th place finish in the cup with Juve having to succumb to last on the table.
