Sergio Aguero gave the away side the lead after Inter Milan striker Rodrigo Palacio was brought down by the keeper which led to Aguero converting the penalty given for the foul.
The home side responded within a few minutes with Segundo Castilla heading home a free-kick.
The match would go on without any more goals but in the dying minutes of the Javier Mascherano saw a red card for a silly act which put Argentina in a pressured situation to hold out the last remaining minutes.
