Wigan opened the scoring in the first half when Roger Espinoza struck on the stroke of half time. Swansea were able to equalize through Angel Rangel but that goal was cancelled out quickly when James McCarthy gave the lead back to Wigan.

Swansea were able to keep their cool and scored the final two goals of the game with Itay Shechter and Dwight Tiendalli providing the winning goals for the Welsh club.

With matches against Arsenal and Aston Villa, Wigan have their work cut out with their side three points away from safety.
