Cristiano Ronaldo scored the opener with a calm finish from a Sami Khedira pass across the face of goal.

It was smooth riding until Emmanuel Eboue, Wesley Sneijder and Didier Drogba all got goals in the space of 14 minutes to give the home side a 3-1 lead.

But Ronaldo came to put the tie in doubt when he got his second in extra time.
